Metacarpal Fracture Repair in Cat
Rumi is 4 months old cat had limping from front paw on the day of examination, fixed this metacarpal fracture by splinting.
After X-ray was conducted in the time of 30 days
• METACARPAL BONES
The metacarpal bones are the bones on the forelimb of the cat that connect the carpus to the phalanges. There are five metacarpal bones on each limb, with the major weight bearing bones being the central metacarpal bones three and four.
• X-ray will be the good tool for fracture diagnosis.
• There are two common options to treat metacarpal fracture i.e surgical & non surgical.
• Non invasive procedure with splinting
• Invasive procedure with IM pinning is common among others.
• Cage rest & painkillers are good for post operative care
